Question about Charles Logan

Its such a long time ago that I watched season 5, but I was wondering, what was the reason that Logan lied to his own country?
Such a shame but I forgot the reason why he did that and why he killed David Palmer.

Can someone help me out?

Davtd Palmer was killed because he find out about the asociation with the Terrorists of Logans chief of staff, Cummings.
Logan lied to cover himself and his Admistration. I think that he is the most nevrotic, stupid and ambitious president .

Yeah I know he worked with terrorists and he lied because of that to his administration. But why did he worked together with the terrorists? What was his reason to do that?
Because in the same time he was making a deal with the Russian president.

To have a reason to have an occupation in the Middle East for the continuation of the flow of oil to the US. The plan was to release the Syntox nerve gas in central Asia to show the world that terrorists acquired WMD's and were capable of using them. Because of that it would cause the US to have a more permenant occupation of the reason and a byproduct of that would be cheap oil. I think its funny when he says, and I quote, "Think of what would happen when the price of oil shoots to $100 a barrel and the people that elected me to office don't have the means to drive their cars or heat their homes." Isn't oil like $130US a barrel now a days??

Wasn't there something to do with the whole Jack faking his own death thing? Or were Michelle and Tony's (attempted) assassinations just meant to make that look like why Palmer was killed?

It was when David Palmer, Michlle and Tony were killed .
Logan was behind the assassinations ; he authorised Charles Henderson to do that.

Logan was merely a puppet whose strings were being pulled by the likes of Henderson and such. He was horrible at being decisive.

actualy Logan didn't authorize Henderson to kill Palmer. Remember Logan got pretty heated at Henderson for taking action against him. But he was complicite after the fact so I guess that's just as bad as the one that shot Palmer.
