Yeah, I get what you're trying to say. I think S7 will be very different, though, and hopefully get out of that predictable rut.

I was definitely disappointed in Season Six, but I think season four was worse. At the very least, Season Six was consistently exciting. Sure, some of the side-plots were annoying (I busted a nut when they brought back the chinese) but at least it was, for the most part, a heart pounding affair. Season Four was not that good, it couldn't keep up a consistency. Their were a few very exciting parts to season four, but for the most part their were to many episodes where virtually nothing happened. Season Five remains my favorite season, it had a very solid plot and kept you guessing, and Henderson was a very interesting, smart character. Logan was well acted as well, a protaginist who was nothing more than a coward. I also got a kick out of Martha Logan.

honestly, as much as i won't bad mouth 24, no matter what, i loved the beginning, and everything to do with fayed and gredenko ... but when it turned into a family affair, i just wasn't going along with it.

now, i loved how graham(the guy pullinbg the strings in seaon 5) turned out to be his brother, but i REALLY got annoyed everytime his nephew kept yelling "Uncle jack!" it really , really got annoying after about the 3rd time.

i didn't like philip bauer as a villian, even though the writers thought that making anyone jack's enemy, even his own family might've been a smart move, i just didn't care for that story arc .... the show was awesome, of course, but the father/son grudge just wasn't right for the final episodes of season 6

yeah totally agree, S6 wasn't the best I'm not sure if it was the worst, but it was still a very good series.

However i have read that when writing S7 the writers were wearing S6 T-shirts to remind themselves of the mistakes they made in S6 and not to make them again in S7!

Just finished season 6. Epic finale was epic.

I really really liked 6! I thought it was pretty well paced, the storylines were nice, the characters were good. Perhaps it helped that I was watching them as and when I liked, I'd imagine that some of the episodes were very filler-like when watching as it was aired.

I especially enjoyed the development Jack got through the series and his battles with himself, culminating in the idea of 'acceptable losses'. His rage at Heller was hilarious and so totally justified.

Really liked Buchanan, Chloe and Morris in this series too.

Overall, it was awesome, but now I am sad that there is nothing left for me to watch... I have to watch one episode of season 7 a week instead. Sad

In conclusion for me... 4 was the best. 2 was the worst. I'd probably put it like this : 4 > 1 > 3 > 5 > 6 >2.

Can't say 7 has totally gripped me yet, but I am eagerly waiting epic upheaval of plot as it spins precariously off in another direction circa episode 12. Rolling Eyes

series 6 is my least favourite. i just thought that it was very cliched, with pivotal setpieces being nicked straight from previous series'.

i also didnt like the missed opportunity for the writers to make something more of Jack having been released from a Chinese prison after several years of torture. the first few episodes was fine, but then after the nuke goes off, he's back to normal again! i see the symbolism of the nuke being a catalyst which shocks Jack back to his old self, but i just dont really like the Jack as Superman image while pretty much everyone else around him dies (Michelle, Curtis, Palmer, Mason, Edgar, Tony - before they bought him back...) the deaths of so many allies also isolates Jack's character which i didnt like. some of the best bits of previous series' was the character interplay between regulars like Tony, Michelle etc.

not convinced by the fact that Jack's brother and dad were villains either. i thought it was a silly idea, and still do now.

the last few episodes with the Chinese story-arc is great though.

cant believe how some people dont like series 4! i think it's really really great! it's simple in terms story as its basically Marwan using lots of little schemes, with the previous one semi-acting as a decoy to cover up for the next. and the Tony-Michelle interplay was, as ever excellent because it adds much needed humanity and drama into the excitement and action.

agree that series 5 is also excellent, purely for Gregory i
Itzin's portrayal of Logan. im not the first to say it, nor the last, but VERY Richard Nixon-esque.

Season 6 sucked...even more than season 3 sucked. I actually thought season 4 was ok if a lil hit & miss...but anyway back to season 6.

Reasons it sucked

* Jack...a shambling, tortured, scarred wreck from a ZZ Top tribute band...4 hours later Karate kicking terroists at leisure.

* Mr Blue tooth is Jacks brother...leading to the whole Bauer family mess. Soap opera clap-trap basicly.

* Milo comes back...well the actor did...i didn't see the character once.

* Chloe is ruined...though to be honest that started in season 5. One thing I didn't like bout that season was the introduction of Morris. Just didn't feel right. Chloe was married ? Nah.

* What was the damn plot again ?

* Pointless return of Logan. Why ? Served no real purpose. Though he had a cool beard. No silent clock. He didn't die. Pointless. Did I say pointless ?

* The finale. More soap opera rubbish. I didn't care.

On the upside Nadia was cute Very Happy

...& Morris's guilt/drinking made for an interesting side plot. I was sure the finale would invole his suicide, thus making Chloes pregnancy tragic/slightly interesting.

I thought his scenes was one of the best parts of season 6. especially when he got stabbed... was a nice cliffhanger at the time Smile

I thought Logans' return was pointless because...well why did it happen ? I can't even remember how it moved the plot on. It felt like it was there as the makers wanted to try & get some of the season 5 magic back. However all it has done is made it harder to use the charaters again. Which is a shame.

gswarriors...Agreed season 3 was awful. I was amazed when a work colleague told me it was his favorite season. I was like why ??!!?? Apparently he liked the Mexico stuff. I have tried rewatching it a couple of times but nope can't do it. The return of Nina was equally as pointless as Logans' return.

I thought Nina's return was the best thing that happened to that God awful season. It was great, don't get me wrong, but it was the worst one. My fav. season order is 5, 1, 7, 4, 6, 3

Personally I don't think that season six is that bad. Yes I have many issues with it, namely it's a 'greatest hits' package, with all the best bits of previous years moulded into one day (Arab villains, nuclear weapons, the twenty fifth ammendment, a villainous vice president, Russians, Jack storming an embassy), but for the most part it is enjoyable and has a great finale. I have more issues with season four, which I find has great individual episodes but it doesn't add up to a truly great season, if you know what I mean (sorry if you don't).
