although i hated this guy, he was pretty cool in saving jacks life. dont really know if you'd call it a heroic death, he did die because he was shot but not really lol. Anyways, the guy I'm talking about is Paul Raines he jumped in front of the bullet which saved jacks live although he died because of something else, if he hadn't jumped in front of the bullet, he never would have died - kinda circular reasoning.

It makes sense and it's confusing, all at once.

i'd say mason. his death made my mom cry. she has just started watching season 5, i wonder what she will do when she sees Edgar die. we'll probably have to restrain her to stop her taking cyanide or somthing.

Yeah, of course Palmer did. But being shot in the neck, and for nothing, isn't really considered heroic.
George Mason gets this one hands down. You hated him all season 1 long, but, season 2, he gets everyone's trust after his exposure to radiation poisoning, and comes out of nowhere to save jack, and the country.

Even though he tried to run and ended up crying it was still pretty heroic.
I can't recall any character that has voluntarily sacrificed himself. One who wasn't going to die anyway.
except Bill -- it wasn't certain he was going to die. and of course, Jack has sacrificed all the time. that's the trademark of the series. he isn't asking anyone to do what he hasn't been willing to do himself every time. that's why he has a right to say those things he said to Sen. Mayer.

Bill Buchanan ftw...
That is my major issue with the most recent season 7 episode...
Spoiler:
Tony played Bill all along! Nooooo!

For me it was without a doubt Mason. Damn I almost cried when Jack jumped out of the plane. Okay I know that he allready was going to die, but it really touched me.
