Anyone else think that Renee and the main bad guy (can't remember name) knew each other?? Noticed the looks they both gave to ea. other. I was thinking he was her father or something. And when she took off her badge and walked in, I thought she was gonna break him out and that Moss wasn't dead afterall. Any thoughts?
That's what I was saying to my friend! When Renee and Wilson first saw each other, there was a little something there. Something like shock on Renee's face or something...and:
Spoiler:
They said that in season 8, Renee's past plays a role in the new threat. I'll try to find the source

i dunno. i thought Wilson just sort of smirked at Renee, as if to taunt her about their earlier conversation straight after he was captured and denied any invovlement in the day's events.
but then it did end quite abruptedly. i'd be equally annoyed if it turns out that Renee was a villain, cos it was bad enough with Tony, until the writers saved that story arc from being stupid.

Anyway I hope kim is back for the final day an with a bigger part. I haven't cared for her sense day 1. An now in day 7.
Anyone else already ready for the final 24 hrs?
I don't know if season 8 is going to be the last season. I've heard there's going to be a season 9 also. nd maybe more. They would be stupid to end the show if it's still very popular.

I hope Kim tells Jack what is going on before the surgery though. I hope she doesn't go through with it without telling Jack her reasons. He was ready to die and I would be pretty pissed if someone up and decided that they didn't want you to die yet, even though they know about every horrible thing that has happened in your life.

Jack wont know about it until he wakes up... if he wakes up, hes in a coma thats why Kim said its her decision now.
I do agree he wont he happy about it and i think she knows it wa kinda selfish thats why she appologized.

I thought the finale was BRILLIANT!!! I especially thought the music was some of Sean Callery's best. Espcially great was the scene between Jack and Renee--they soft contemplative music which included the 24 theme was moving. That scene had me in tears.
And Tony....what a great storyline, a quadruple cross! Although in my mind it didn't justify what Tony did, I understand how someone could just snap and be out for vengeance. And I like that he didn't die.
The Olivia story line dragged a bit, but I liked it. I also agreed with the President's decision to charge Olivia. I thought it was very cold of Henry to basically blame her for Roger's death. And it's nice to see Ethan back in the mix.
And all the Kim haters can go kiss a cougar. Kim certainly kicked some ass. Well done Elisha!!!
All in all, season 7 is now my favorite. I can't wait to watch my new boxset!
10/10 for both episodes.

yeah i really liked it as well. seris 7 was treading water for a while after Tony 'went bad again', but this has gone some way to fix that.
Tony's logic made sense as well. i mean, what did Tony have to gain by leaking the information about the White House attack anyway? if the President had been killed in Juma's raid, the private military firms wouldve benefited as she was trying to shut them down anyway. from his double-crossing he did save lifes.
as for the CIP? well it was part of the deal to secure the bio-weapon in the first place from Sangala, so that one doesnt quite hang together in terms of logic. unless im missing something.
in alot of ways, Jack's talk with Renee really bought out what Tony was getting at. 'make the choices that you can live with' and for Tony, he was willing to launch the bioweapon attack in order to get to, and bring down Wilson, whereas Jack wouldnt have. like i, and many others have said, one of the main themes throughout 24 series 7 is 'does the end justify the means' and this resonated through to the President as well throughout thr story, and in the finale, with having to choose between covering up for her daughter or turning her in.
Very well said. I agree about how Jack's talk with Renee brought out what Tony was getting at, although I think it would have been SO much better and really made the whole season better if they'd fleshed that out a little more and had Jack mention Tony in his speech to Renee. Here's an extended version of that scene that I wrote. The blue parts are the lines I added.
"I see 15 people held hostage on the bus and everything else goes out the window. I'll do whatever it takes to save them and I mean whatever it takes. I guess maybe I thought if I saved them, I could save myself."
"Do you regret anything you did today?"
"No. But then again, I don't work for the FBI."
"I don't understand."
"You took an oath. You made a promise to uphold the law. You cross that line it only starts off with a small step. Before you know it you're running as fast as you can in the wrong direction, just to justify why you started in the first place. Just look at Tony."
Renee looks confused.
"I know it's hard for you to see it right now, but he started out with good intentions."
"Jack, please..." Renee protests, her eyes begging Jack not to go there, not to try to justify what Tony took from her.
"I'm not saying what he did was right and I don't blame you for wanting him to pay for what he did to Larry. And he will. But as much as I don't want to admit it to myself I understand how he got there. I don't know all the details but I know that he set out to take down the man responsible for his wife's death, and I think he truly believed that the world would be better off if he succeeded. So he convinced himself that anything was justified in order to achieve his goal, even if it meant killing innocent people. He became so obsessed with stopping them that he didn't realize that somewhere along the way he became just like them. And the truth is, I could have become just like them."
Renee nods tearfully, not wanting to feel any sympathy for the man who killed Larry or even see him as human but finding it hard not to sympathize with what Jack is saying.
"These laws were made by smarter men than me. And in the end, I know that these laws have to be more important than the 15 people on the bus. I know that, in my mind. I know that's right. I just don't think my heart could ever have lived with that. I guess the only advice I can give you is try and make choices that you can live with."
Hello, all. Your newest moderator has finally watched the finale. Wow! So many thoughts swirl around my head! Let's see:
AHHHHH!!! EIGHT MORE MONTHS?!?!?! HOW WILL I MAKE IT THROUGH?!?!?
YEAH, KIM!! You're a great daughter, and would make your Daddy proud!
You go, Renee! Welcome to the real world! (Jack's world.)
What a lonely household the Taylors have now! I never thought Allison would do it, tho I see why. I actually felt sorry for 'Livy. She thought she was such a big girl, but now she's a scared little child. And with her also, I see why she made the choices she did. Henry, you need to hold this family together and not sink into the funk these developments are drawing you into. Your first duty is to your wife. "The two are one flesh", you know.
Well, Tony, if you had to go down this road, it was for the noblest of reasons. It was the only thing that's made any sense of the last few episodes. I'd do the same if it was my wife that was killed. If you went too far, it's because you're human, all too human. I still have pity for you -- and believe it or not, so does Jack. That's why he didn't kill you.
Jack: If you needed more help at the end, it's only because you gave your all earlier this Day. Don't be angry when you wake up alive, because you can't ask Kim to let you go, nor your granddaughter, whom you don't even know yet. (Here of course I'm assuming he does make it, because why else have Kim decide to do it at the end? Yes, could be another element to the cliffhanger which could have been left out, but I think it points towards a good outcome.) Also, what an AWESOME SCENE taking out the whole medical crew (though they don't even deserve that term: medicine used for those purposes is just terrorism in scrubs)!
Imam (that's the Muslim cleric's title), As-Salāmu `Alaykum, my brother. Your faith needs more people like you. Thanks for making Jack feel more at peace. (And no, Jack's not converting, just seeking peace from someone who understands him better than most think. That's one of the great ironies of this season. Both learned from each other. And by the way, this is coming from a committed Christian who's humble enough to know you can learn from anyone, because no faith is totally without elements of truth which enable us to see our own faith in a new perspective.)
Also, I don't think Renee knew Wilson personally. I'm sure the Bureau has a file on him which she's familiar with. And I think whatever association there might be will go by the board now that she blames him for Larry's death. I mean, Jack felt nothing watching his father die last season after knowing what he had become. (He does feel something for Tony, DESPITE what he has become, as I mentioned above.)

jack getting knocked out on the surgeon's table
jack escaping, killing all, escaping and then prepared to kill himself before tony got to him - great couple of scenes there
tony using the forklift to open the garage - now that was freakin awesome
tony confessing to jack about his reasons and trying to justify how he helped with the bigger bio attack etc etc
tony killing cara
tony's meet up with alan wilson
the president arresting her daughter, family destroyed
renee giving in to jack's methods and possibly torturing alan wilson
good stuff
moving forward
- I reckon season 8 will be at least a year away if not more (timeline I mean)
- not sure how Tony will be involved
- hope this season gives us some closure about the 'highly-paid' terrorists like Max, Mandy, and the others involved with Alan Wilson
oh...
..and the look on renee's face when kim knew what specs were on that laptop - priceless

Oh...and I have to admit, I was laughing when Renee did the "classic FBI tuck-and-roll". I mean, the entire part where she's on the van going 50 miles and hour is great. And shooting down people at the same time. But then, some guy pops out and she somersaults across the floor! Wheee!

Renee is just like Jack, she understands what it takes to get things done, regardless of the rules. Renee has brain cells unlike Jacks previous lovers, which may make their relationship work better. (as in Renee can actually defend herself instead of look like an idiot) They are perfect for each other! LOL

Play 24 the game for Playstation 2 and you will find out who Max is.
Great finale, I agree Henry being cold towards President. Tony won´t be redeemed but at least now I can still consider him as my favorite character but I don´t agree with his methods.
Wilson was smiling because he knew Renee was losing her job and making things only worse for herself becaue Alan thinks he can tolerate torturing. Unfortunately for him I think Renee has learned some cool tricks from Jack.
I think this was the second best season after season 5. The bad guy Logan made that one the best.
I thought Pres Taylor was going to go bad on tonight's finale and bury the voice recording. It would have fitted as it was to save her daughter and family and would have made us think that she could turn bad in the future as well.
I was glad Tony's story turned again. The turn he made when he killed Larry was probably the biggest shock of the whole 24 epic for me - bear in mind that I started watching in series 3 so knew of the massive twist at the end of Series 1 before I saw it. However, here in tonight's Tony totally justified what he did in my mind. As someone else has said, it wasn't right, but I think the vast majority of us would have done exactly the same in his situation in order to get the man who killed his wife and unborn child.
The one gripe I have though is that we knew about series 8 a while ago. So, it made the ending of Kim saving Jack predictable. Why do they let us know that there's going to be another series BEFORE the current one finishes? Did they really think that any of us thought Jack would die once we knew this. It would have made it even more exciting, tense, sweaty palm edge of the seat stuff if we didn't already know there was a new series in the offing.
Still. What an amazing series. Almost as good as number 5.....not that any of the others are far behind either!

Don't forget we are talking about 24 an they may want us to believe jack will survive. For all we know jack could be dead by the time 8 starts. Or 8 could be his final day.
Remember the treatent is only experamental.
But my point is. Don't believe what anyone says. Even if it comes from the 24 crew. It may be a set up.

For all we know he could be fine for most of the next season then all of a sudden faint and then reveal the treatment didn't work.

Very good point. If Day 8 is meant to be really close to Day 7 then we may still have that thought that the pathogen may kill Jack with him still being affected - just so long as they don't announce a series 9 while we're still watching number 8! hahaha!

Watched the finale this morning, amazing, superb, nail-biting tension. I loved every single bit of it, really awesome haha I can't stop saying that. 5 stars for sure.
I was left wondering with so little time to the end of the season if everything would be wrapped up, and i'm quite glad that they've left two of the storylines (Renee & Wilson/Kim & Jack) to hang over for the next season. It means we are left pondering and leaves us asking lots of questions about what to expect for the next season. The fact that now Renee looks to be reverting to Jack style tactics fits nicely in with the possibility of CTU returning for S8.
+1 on conspiracytheorist's comments regarding Sean Callery's music, he is an incredible composer, the music he makes is perfectly suited to the scenes and I think he really did a superb job for the finale.
Some of the scenes were very powerful and full of emotion, the Tony one particularly as has already been alluded to. That was extremely powerful, at first I thought Tony was actually turning back into a "good" guy, but then when he started lambasting Jack again I thought nah, he's gone badass proper now.
Kim looked so bloody hot haha, and she was right in the thick of the action. I hope we see her again in S8, maybe even back full time?
And finally, to round this long post off, Keifer's performance and acting throughout the season has been excellent as always. The whole thing with the pathogen he acted extremely well, really he ceases to amaze me how well he plays Jack.
P.S. "DAMN IT" can't wait for so many months for my next new 24 fix.

Fantastic finale, and I found it surprisingly emotional.
Jack calling for the imam to seek redemption was a wonderful touch.
The Ethan-Aaron Combo to bring down Olivia was perfect. I hope they both turn up next year in some capacity.
Kim (and Elisha Cuthbert) has never been better.
Carlos Bernard's performance confronting Wilson in Episode 24 was incredibly powerful.
Will Patton (Alan Wilson) as a villain was phenomenally creepy for such short screen time. The smirk he had when Renee was sizing him up was awesome.
Renee was absolutely fantastic, and I'm delighted she is returning. This season has had some of the best female characters in 24 history. I also think Renee's actions at the end were ambiguous.
Minor complaint: Alan Wilson should surely have recognised the name Tony Almeida if his past crimes are correct.

I gave it 5 stars also. This finale was very emotional and epic from the talk Jack has with Renee to the parts with Tony revealing his true motives to Jack.
If they do in fact bring back Almeida, will he be good or bad and how would Jack act towards him? Tony was gonna kill him with the C4. How would Jack respond to that?
