Would we all be hooked if season one ended different?

Thge ending of the first season is a heavy one. Not many producers would have had the courage to end a season like that, but the producers of '24' did. And I think it was a good choice. They weren't sure though, as we all know after viewing the alternative ending on the dvd.

Do you think they chose the right ending?

Killing off Terri set Jack up for unlimited amount of seasons. Jack loses everything for his job and for his country.

I wouldn't have minded if they chose the alternate ending but this worked well with the whole tone of the show and his character.

Yeah i would have carried on watching but it would have deffinatly been a different kind of show.

its been a while since i watched Season 1...and dont have the DVD Boxset (just the episodes on Tape)
can someone explain what the Alternative endings were?

I only know of 1 alternate ending. Which was Terri surviving.

Jack enters the room and seems Terri tied up but still alive.

The ending didn;'t really have much to do with why i got hooked. It was the rule of time, and how well the writers made "everyone second" count. Very ingenious and fresh for a show to do.

I actually remember the more shocking thing about the season finale wasn't just Terri dying, but i remember i got goosebumps when they used the silent countdown. That made more of a statement, ans made the impact of Terri dying, and what was going to come for the next season's of 24.

Yeah, I think they definitely chose the right ending. It made more of a statement and I think makes people wonder even more about what's ahead. It was more surprising, it would have been boring with the same old happy ending that everything else in the world has. That gets a little unrealistic and old. What I like about 24 is that it keeps you wondering all the time and the seasons have great, original endings.

But I think if they had gone with the alternate ending, people would still be hooked anyways. It's a great show, how could you not get hooked?

Thank you. That's what made it so sad for me. Rip Terri Bauer!I felt that was a importent but over looked fact. I'm so glad she's in the books I loved terri but I understand why they did what they.
And keifer should have got a emmy or some shit for that scene as well as when nina tells him kims dead. Did anyone else feel the emotion in that gun fight?

Oh yeah!! Jack showed plenty of emotion in the dock scenes... Just imagine if Kim was really dead and he came face to face with Nina...

It was the perfect ending. I am confident Terri had to die at the end of Season 1. It became a large aspect of Jack's character and very being. It sets Jack's emotional state up perfectly for the subsequent seasons. It can all lead back there, with the viewer knowing inside he is still hurting.

I'm quite sure that I would still have been hooked if Teri didnt die... But after 7 Seasons and the way Jack developed as a character I think it was the right choice!!
