Season 6 is already out here in the UK. I'm glad, too, because I never saw it on television...!
Aah, that was a good day. |

Yeah, I don't get it: why does the UK get stuff earlier than the US related to Twenty-Four when it's a US-based show?
Not that I'm complaining... |

I have the Canadian release date marked on my calender, with a circle so big I can't really put any useful info in the adjoining boxes... At least I won't forget it! (like I would forget it anyways) |

Maybe if I can hold out that long, I can ask for it for Christmas and save myself $50 ($80 if you buy it at 'Best Buy', ironically) |

I'd like you to provide us with 5 things inside of Season 6 that make you think it "was awesome" because I can provide you a listing of 15 that make it one to affirm in the other direction. |

As 'bad' as it was, it was still better then a lot of what's on TV right now. I can think of a few shows that never, in their best episode, can compare to the worst of S6. |

Very true. S6 may have been a bit of a let down, especially when compared to S5, but I still loved it. |

Oh, dont get me wrong - I LOVED reviewing it. I HATED that we had to settle for 3rd class writing in many spots after say, hour 9.
The numbers on the ratings for last season we have at 24podcast.com will give you a better idea of what I'm talking about. |

Yeah, me too. I don't want to put it down too much, since it is still good TV overall, and gave me something to look forward to on Monday nights. (Except for one bad 3 episode stretch in the middle, there. It did make me lose faith, a bit) But I am confident the writers will make it up to us with S7!! |

I enjoyed Season 6 much more after my second go with it. My expectations were lower (they've always been too high before every 24 Season) and I went in with an open mind, and was impressed. The political storyline in S6 was considerably better than the ones in past seasons, the deception was very suspenseful. Another positive for S6 was the characters, they were great. Tom Lennox was a superb character (really miss him), and he brought a lot to the table. Milo, who began as an annoying character stepped up towards the end of his run with the show and his storyline with Nadia was great.
Morris was another awesome character. His sarcasm was hilarious, and his head butting with Milo was pretty funny. Nadia was a character, like Milo, who stepped up towards the end. She really began the season as an irrelevant character, just another face in the crowd at CTU. However, when she took over for Bill she did a good job, she stood up for Audrey and handled the situation well. Wayne Palmer wasn't a good president (from a character standpoint), he was good once he came out of the coma, but before that he came off as weak. As for the vilians, they were great. Maropis did a great job as Fayed, and the summation of that part of the storyline was excellent (epic fight). Gredenko was a good addition to the storyline, as was Assad (wish he'd lasted longer).
So yeah, definitely count me out of the S6 hate. It was actually one of my favorite seasons. The only annoying things was Jack's family. The actor who played Josh was absolutely horrendous (could they really not find someone better?) and Marilyn was annoying, and brought nothing but a seemingly short romantic interest in Jack. Again though, that was more of an annoying thing than an interesting thing. As for Phillip, he was cool, Cromwell was excellent. The chinese I didn't mind....but this better be the last time we see Cheng, that storyline as run its course.
For me, the worst season remains Season Three. It's actually a lot of people's favorite, and it befuddles me. I found the plot for S3 to be too linear, the virus was an okay plot but the lack of sub-plots disturbed me. As for the political storyline? Garbage. Wayne was actually good in S3, but I often found David Palmer to be an irritant in this season, and that thing with David's girlfriend was beyond annoying. Milliken was an okay sub-plot, and Sherry (one of my favorite characters) played a good role. But for the most part, S3 was a huge disappointment and remains my least favorite season. |

In my opinion, only a few characters were good...
- Jack Bauer: Jack is Jack and even if he hadn't spoken a word in two years, he's back on track instantly.
- Charles Logan: I really liked the development of Logan's character... from a corrupt man to one seeking redemption.
- Hamri Al-Assad: Amazing character that helped Jack a lot and would've been way more useful in the field with him, than on Washington D.C. getting bombed to death .
- Noah Daniels: A real politician, added a lot of balance for Wayne's naivety and after being betrayed by Lisa Miller, instead of trying to cover it up, he stood up for it. The pardon for Bill and Karen was exactly how he won his tape recording from Tom, redeeming himself.
- Tom Lennox: A very solid chief of staff who had some radical ideas but ultimately just cared for the safety of the American people. Doesn't get close to Novick though.
- Morris O'Brian: Perhaps the only competent person at CTU this season, and had some nice developing, the alcoholism subplot was nice. Overcoming his issues after arming the nuclear devices was also very good.
- Bill Buchanan: CTU was incompetent, they didn't really do a lot, but Bill always provided help for Jack, and the raid of the oil platform was something we never saw in Bill's character before.
The "alright" characters:
- Karen Hayes: She was fine for the most part, but getting Bill fired because "she was too close to the President" wasn't the best thing - although I realize what she meant, she was certain they did nothing wrong. So if she's so close to the President... well let's just take it there instead of just firing Bill to cover it up.
- Chloe O'Brian: Didn't really do a lot this season. Nothing bad but nothing spectacular.
- Abu Fayed: Good threat, good villain. I would've liked to know who his brother was, perhaps making him "Abu Ali" (Syed Ali's brother) would've been interesting 'cause we would connect with the character more effectively. Like on Season 3, when we got Stephen Saunders... even if we didn't meet him before, Jack did, and that made it nicer.
- James Heller: The last scene from the season is probably the best, and the argument between Heller and Jack is just priceless...
- The Wallace family: Regular family stuck in a massive problem, I liked it.
- Martha Logan: Not even close to what she did in S5, but in character.
- Aaron Pierce: Not enough time from him, but he's Aaron and he's cool.
Then you have the list of the bad characters (again, my opinion):
- Sandra Palmer: No need to explain anything - just downright terrible.
- Walid Al-Rezani: Horrible subplot that led nowhere - except "5 visitors"... and CTU could've found out in minutes instead of hours and a beat-up for Mr. Al-Rezani.
- Ahmed Amar: ACKKKKMED... meh, just felt kinda weird that the terrorist sent ONE "KID" to get the trigger mechanism... which was CRUCIAL for the plan. Yeah, o.k.
- Josh Bauer: "Uncle Jack!!!" ugh.
- Graem "Bauer": He was great in S5, and got screwed in S6 when they decided to make him Jack's evil brother.
- Phillip Bauer: Superb performance by James Cromwell but the writing of the character wasn't good... at all.
- Dmitri Gredenko: He was alright until he decided to get his arm chopped in order to escape with Fayed for like 5 minutes and then changed his mind and gave Fayed away anyway... so what was the point of the chopped arm?
- Milo Pressman: "Lets bring an old character that we forgot about just for the sake of doing it, and then lets give him a terrible subplot with Nadia and Doyle - a really dull love triangle that got nowhere - oh and lets kill him for shock value".
- Nadia Yassir: See above, and what the hell was Buchanan thinking when she left her on charge? even Doyle would've been better.
- Mike Doyle: "Lets add random lines for a character that had no character development at all "I've read the Koran and the Bible and whatever I can get my hands onto"." Oh and has anyone figured out what the hell happened in Denver? Connell Johnson, Milo Pressman and Nadia Yassir all talk about it... well, what did he do!?
- Wayne Palmer: He wasn't the worst but he was kinda out of character, in S3 he does what needs to be done and here he's extremely insecure.
- Marilyn Bauer: "Hi Jack, mi husband just died... wanna hang out?".
- Curtis Manning: "We need shock value. Lets take Curtis out of character so that Jack can kill him". (And I did like that scene).
- Audrey Raines: Her story felt very forced, and although it was a good performance, I just didn't like it.
- Cheng Zhi: "Mistah Bow-ah". Again, forced. I hope we don't see anything about the chinese again.
- Lisa Miller: "Hey, how about we rehash what we did on Season 1 with Elizabeth Nash and Alexis Drazen? that was a cool scene!!" - Lousy lousy writing and repeating themselves.
Wow that was a LONG analysis... ANYWAY, I actually like the season, don't get me wrong. But in my opinion it has a lot more issues than good things, and especially when we compare it to previous seasons... minus S4 with super-terrorist Habib Marwan... |

I remain one of the few people I know that hates Chloe. Never liked her, she's just annoying, not funny.
Oh yeah, Sandra Palmer was beyond awful. I hope they bring her back for one episode just so we can see her get a bullet to the head. |
