It's obvious that Nina wasn't the real bad girl in the first 12 episodes. The first 12 were shot because the producers didn't know if they would get another 12 episodes. I depended on the amount of succes of '24'. When it was clear that '24' was a hit, they made the other 12 episodes and suddenly decided that it would be cool that Nina was the bad girl. Judging by the first 12 episodes it's impossible that Nina was meant to be the bad girls from the beginning. She does things that she would NEVER had done if she was a traitor.

I just finished watching season 1 and wow! I think the fact that you think Nina would be the last person at CTU to be a traitor, what with everything she did for Jack all the rules she broke, for me that just made it that much more jaw-dropping when it finally gets revealed who the traitor is. |

What I noticed on my second run through was the opening.
You know... "Terrorists are plotting to assassinate a Presidential Candidate...etc"
When it says; "People that I work with may be involved in both", it shows Nina. Almost as is the show is subtly telling you it's her! |

I was thinking the same thing. There are continuity problems in the story line that wouldn't have happened if she was intended to be bad all along. For example, when Jack was ordered to kill her by the bad guys, wouldn't they know she was on their side? She seemed too important for them not to know. And why did she first start lying to Jack in the last episode, until then she always was truthful, even if the information was harmful to her hidden agenda. |

As far as I can remember, Nina wasn't working with Gaines...but only with Victor Drazen...so Gaines would only have contact to Jamey..
as far as I can remember...please correct me if I am wrong.. |

So Gaines wouldn't know one of his boss's top people at CTU? If Jack had killed her, I think Drazen would have been pretty upset. |

That might have been because in the beginning someone tells Jack it's Nina, but she got cleared shortly after. Anyway, the creators would never have made it so easy as to show the real mole at that point of the opening. |

Nina didn't even work for drazen. She worked some people in germany. Plus nina was deep cover before she met jack. that's a double agents job to get high in ranks to get information to help whoever the highest bidder is. . |

Interesting logic. But unlikely due to the fact that series 2 and 3 follow the same pattern of "ending" at series 12, but then a new storyline builds from there. |

It's more like after 20 episodes they changed their minds.
It worked in the long run. We all liked Nina's whole arc but what did you think of the turn since it obviously contradicted some things? |

I certainly wasn't expecting to find out Nina was the traitor when I first watched 24. It's definitely a great plot twist.
There were some continuity errors (none that I can actually point to, having not watched S1 for quite some time) but all in all, great twist.
And about Jack having to kill Nina, watch through a few other seasons and see how many CTU moles get killed. Having Jack kill Nina certainly wasn't a large stretch of the imagination by any means. |
